If you are going to do it, at least do it right!

During our study of Revelation, my wife made a great observation. We were recently on a web board discussing images of Christ and how since we don’t know what he looked like 100%, we shouldn’t guess what he looks like. You know, the whole being perfect and God thing?

Well in Revelation we read this:

1: 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Now the pope has a staff with Christ still on the cross, but he is no longer there. Most churches have sunday school materials with INaccurate pictures of Jesus, along with posters and pictures, but he is no longer here. Christ is reigning on the right hand of God. That is where he is TODAY. If churches want to be accurate in regard to Christ, how about they use the description above to show his current likeness. Of course I am not advocating making images of Christ, but come on, at least try to be current and correct. I guess since they can’t get his birth-date right nor can they get is resurrection day right, I guess it is ok not to be 100% right on what he looks like either.
