Blueberries

This morning Abigail had Cherrios and frozen blueberries for breakfast. She was drenched in blueberry juice before she was finished. I laughed and brought out a mirror to show her her messy face. She looked very surprised at her face covered in purple.

I took her hands and made little handprints on the tray of her highchair and we laughed. Something about that moment and how little her handprints are made me want to cherish it always. I figured Brandon wouldn’t be to pleased if I pressed her sticky purple hands all over the walls, so I took a picture instead.

My little girls are growing so fast! It’s hard when my back is aching and I’m so very tired to truly enjoy just holding my sleeping baby for very long. Now that Abigail is getting older and more independent she’s less and less willing to be held for any length of time. I wish I could just bottle up sweet moments and mete them out over time.

So when Abigail is eighteen and eats neatly and looking forward to her life independent of Mom and Dad, I could just pull out blueberry handprints, just for a little while.
